Baseball Game Preview: Linfield Christian Lions vs. Vista Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Linfield Christian Lions challenge Vista Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Linfield Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Linfield Christian's offense. They fell just short of Arrowhead Christian by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Vista came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Jaguars.

Trent Dodson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Nicolas Bala was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Tyler Lee also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Vista's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Linfield Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3-1.
