Basketball Game Preview: Saint Andrew's Scots vs. Boyd Anderson Cobras

The Saint Andrew's Scots will be taking part in a tournament against the Boyd Anderson Cobras at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Saint Andrew's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 matchups -- so hopefully Boyd Anderson likes a good challenge.

Saint Andrew's is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing American Heritage: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Saint Andrew's blew American Heritage out of the water with a 74-41 final score. The Scots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Saint Andrew's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alex Montes led the charge by going 7 for 14 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. Montes' evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Xander Gerard, who went 7 of 9 en route to 18 points.

Meanwhile, Boyd Anderson was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 51-47 to Miramar.

Saint Andrew's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.8 points. As for Boyd Anderson, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Saint Andrew's couldn't quite finish off Boyd Anderson in their previous meeting back in December of 2019 and fell 72-69. Can Saint Andrew's avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
