Basketball Recap: Jaelyn Dabideen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat New Bern + How To Watch

Topsail won the last time they faced New Bern and things went their way on Friday too. The Pirates blew past the Bears 49-29. The Pirates pushed the score to 39-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bears cut but never quite recovered from.

Topsail's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaelyn Dabideen, who posted nine points along with five boards and five steals. Dabideen is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charley Moore, who put up nine points and seven steals.

Topsail smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games dating back to last season.

Topsail now has a winning record of 2-1. As for New Bern, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Topsail will head out to square off against Croatan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Bern, they will venture away from home to challenge Havelock at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
