Volleyball Recap: Winfield Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

If George Washington wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Winfield, they should've done a better job of containing Alexis Callahan. The Generals walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Patriots on Thursday thanks in part to Callahan, who had 20 assists and six digs. She also served an ace, marking her first of the season.

Winfield walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20.

Despite the defeat, George Washington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abby Johns had seven digs and three aces.

Winfield has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-11-2 record this season. As for George Washington, they dropped their record down to 22-16-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Winfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Lincoln County on the 25th. As for George Washington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 1-1 tie against St. Albans on the 25th.
