Southwick Regional had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Holyoke Purple Knights, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted against the Purple Knights since May 21, 2021.
Southwick Regional wouldn't go down easily and took Holyoke into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-23, 16-25, 21-25, 15-10.
Nicolas Spina paced Southwick Regional's offense, picking up 36 kills. Spina got some help from Phong Tran and his 46 assists. River Thompson controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.
