Baseball Game Preview: Rancho Cucamonga Cougars vs. Damien Spartans

For the second straight game, Rancho Cucamonga will face off against Damien. The Cougars will head out to challenge the Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rancho Cucamonga's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Damien's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Monday just wasn't the day for Rancho Cucamonga's offense. They lost 8-0 to Damien on Monday.

For Damien's part, the result came thanks to Rudy O'Dell's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for O'Dell.

At the plate, Bobby Logue was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Damien's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is undefeated (and 10-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Mansour, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Damien was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rancho Cucamonga only posted a batting average of .091.

Damien's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-13. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-8 record this season.
