Volleyball Recap: Eldon Mustangs vs. Willard Tigers
After flying high against Father Tolton on Wednesday, Eldon came back down to earth. The Mustangs fell 2-0 to the Willard Tigers on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.
The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Willard scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-17.
Audrey Dinwiddie paced Eldon's offense, picking up nine kills. Dinwiddie got some help from Kaydin Davis and her 20 assists. Emma Opie and Sarah Tompkins kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.
Eldon's loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7. As for Willard, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-5-2 record this season.
Coincidentally, Eldon and Willard will both be playing Carthage the next time they take the court. The Mustangs will head out to face the Tigers at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Tigers will play them later in the day, at 10:00 a.m.
