Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Bushland's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Bushland proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 32) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Childress Bobcats 6-5. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 12-8 win back in March.

Wade McConnell made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Lincoln Krause was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Colton Reynolds was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Bushland is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Childress, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10-1.

The last five games the Wolves have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Childress, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tulia at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
