Basketball Recap: Christ the Cornerstone Academy Takes a Loss

Christ the Cornerstone Academy was the 31-14 winner over Emmanuel Christian when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Christ the Cornerstone Academy Defenders took a 25-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Emmanuel Christian Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Defenders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 574th in North Carolina, while the Crusaders are ranked 269th in South Carolina).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Emmanuel Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aubrey Hoffman, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. Hoffman has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last eight times she's played. Maddie Oliver was another key player, putting up four points in addition to 19 rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Christ the Cornerstone Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Emmanuel Christian, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9.

Christ the Cornerstone Academy will welcome Riverside Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 31st. As for Emmanuel Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-11 loss against Varsity Opponent on the 27th.
