Basketball Game Preview: South Carroll Cavaliers vs. Mount de Sales Academy Sailors

The South Carroll Cavaliers will head out to take on the Mount de Sales Academy Sailors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, South Carroll was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to Manchester Valley. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Mount de Sales Academy came tearing into Wednesday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Gators 36-34. That's two games straight that the Sailors have won by exactly two points.

Mount de Sales Academy's win came from a few key players South Carroll will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Shelby Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mount de Sales Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Litz, who posted six points and three steals.

Mount de Sales Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Mount de Sales Academy pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.6 points per game. As for South Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
