Baseball Game Preview: Delta Eagles vs. New Castle Trojans

For the second straight game, Delta will face off against New Castle. The Eagles will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Delta's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while New Castle has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Delta came out on top against New Castle on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Eagles walked away with a 9-5 win over the Trojans. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won four in a row.

Myles Enos looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Everrett Linn was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Delta's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Chase Ritchie was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

New Castle's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Delta, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
