Football Recap: Jackie Liao Leads Rosary Academy's Defense on Saturday

Rosary Academy lost against Foothill last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Royals took a 20-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The Royals gained 131 more yards on the day, but it was the Knights that made the best use of them.

Despite the loss, Rosary Academy still got an impressive performance from Hailey Huerta, who picked up 198 receiving yards and two TDs. Huerta showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 50 yards.

Rosary Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jackie Liao. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one defended passe the last three times she's played.

The critical scores for Foothill came from Calla Nagler, Lili Reid, and Harleigh Chavez.

With the loss, Rosary Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-12. As for Foothill, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-6.

Rosary Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 18-6 defeat against El Dorado on the 13th. As for Foothill, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-0 victory against Mission Viejo on the 13th.
