Preview: New Bern vs. Cardinal Gibbons

New Bern may have come out ahead in their last game, but they shouldn't get too cocky given who is up next. They will face off against Cardinal Gibbons in a playoff contest on Friday. Both teams have allowed few points on average (New Bern 16.17, Cardinal Gibbons 15.33), so any points scored will be well earned.

The Bears earned some postseason bragging rights after a successful outing last Friday. They came out on top against Seventy-First by a score of 20-6. Kahmaad Scriven was the offensive standout of the matchup for the Bears, as he rushed for 119 yards and two TDs on 19 carries. This was the first time Scriven has racked up 100+ rushing yards all year. Scriven's sharp performance also set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Gibbons kept a clean sheet against Heritage. Cardinal Gibbons steamrolled past Heritage 42 to nothing. The team accrued the bulk of their points in the first half (35) and coasted on those for the victory.

With both teams having displayed their playoff mettle, spectators can expect a high-quality game. Keep track of this and all the high school football postseason action on MaxPreps.com.
