Baseball Recap: Yreka Comes Up Short

Yreka's tournament run continued when they took on River Valley on Monday. The Miners fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 6-5.

Tony Thomas made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Yreka has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13-1 record this season. As for River Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-12.

Yreka and River Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Miners (ranked 879th) will meet Wheatland (ranked 263rd) at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, River Valley will challenge Lincoln at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (868 vs. 91).
