Preview: Covington Latin Trojans vs. Robertson County Black Devils
Covington Latin is 0-3 against Robertson County since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Covington Latin Trojans will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Robertson County Black Devils at 2:00 p.m. Robertson County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Covington Latin, who comes in off a win.
Covington Latin can finally bid farewell to their 17-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on December 11th. Everything went their way against St. Patrick as Covington Latin made off with a 65-39 victory. The win was just what Covington Latin needed coming off of a 71-29 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 56 points the game before, Robertson County were a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 85-18 loss at the hands of Felicity-Franklin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Robertson County came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 282nd in Kentucky, while Felicity-Franklin is ranked 643rd in Ohio).
The victory got Covington Latin back to even at 1-1. As for Robertson County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Covington Latin and Robertson County were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January, but Covington Latin came up empty-handed after a 1-0 loss. Can Covington Latin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
