Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Comes Up Short

Notre Dame came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 70-45 to the Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cee-Bees this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-41 back in December of 2024.

Clay-Battelle's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Preston Luzader, who almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Luzader has scored at least a third of Clay-Battelle's points. Another player making a difference was Braden Ponceroff, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine assists.

Notre Dame's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Clay-Battelle, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Notre Dame has already played their next contest, a 59-46 defeat against Pendleton County on the 22nd. As for Clay-Battelle, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 82-61 victory against Hundred on the 21st.
