Recap: Groesbeck Goats vs. Teague Lions
It was a good run, but The Groesbeck Goats unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a serious blow against Teague, falling 42-14. Groesbeck lost against Teague in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 21-17 score last time.
Teague can attribute much of their success to Zak Leija, who rushed for 155 yards on only ten carries, and also threw for 125 yards and a touchdown on only 11 passes. Teague also got a significant boost from Shamar Davis, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 93 yards.
Groesbeck's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Teague, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Groesbeck will be playing in front of their home fans against Eustace at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Eustace is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Teague, they will head out on the road to face off against Kemp at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kemp will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1028th, while Teague is ranked 400th).
