Preview: Bluegrass United Bluehawks vs. Columbus HomeSchool Hawks

Bluegrass United is 8-0 against Columbus HomeSchool since October of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Bluegrass United Bluehawks will take on the Columbus HomeSchool Hawks at 2:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Bluegrass United sitting on three straight victories and Columbus HomeSchool on six.

Even though Bluegrass United has not done well against Cincinnati Trailblazers HomeSchool recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Bluegrass United walked away with a 53-44 victory over Cincinnati Trailblazers HomeSchool.

Bluegrass United's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Burnett, who scored 20 points. Burnett hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Anderson, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Columbus HomeSchool scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Laurel 90-57 at home. With Columbus HomeSchool ahead 46-23 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Columbus HomeSchool can attribute much of their success to Kaden Greenlee, who scored 21 points along with two steals, and David Cline, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 19 rebounds. Greenlee hasn't dropped below 15 points for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Perkins, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

Columbus HomeSchool's lineup was just a bit different on Monday as Oliver Hart got a bit more time on the court (11 vs. his season average of 5.47). Hart made the most of the opportunity, scoring four points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Bluegrass United pushed their record up to 14-12 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Columbus HomeSchool, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Bluegrass United have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 41.1% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Columbus HomeSchool struggles in that department as they've drained 46.1% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Bluegrass United didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Columbus HomeSchool in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 79-75 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bluegrass United since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
