Basketball Recap: South Putnam Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

South Putnam won the last time they faced Owen Valley and things went their way on Saturday too. The South Putnam Eagles walked away with a 53-44 win over the Owen Valley Patriots.

Despite the defeat, Owen Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aubrey Sparks dropped a double-double on 26 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 59.1% of Owen Valley's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lilly Miller, who had eight points.

South Putnam has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Owen Valley, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-6.

South Putnam will square off against Monrovia at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Owen Valley, they will challenge Northview at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Northview will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Owen Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
