Volleyball Game Preview: Alma Center Lincoln Hornets vs. Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs

The Alma Center Lincoln Hornets will square off against the Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Alma Center Lincoln took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Pepin/Alma, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hornets skirted past the Eagles 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their four-match losing streak.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (105-101) Alma Center Lincoln actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 12-25, 25-21, 25-21, 24-26, 15-12.

Melrose-Mindoro not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 15, 2024 (when they won 3-0). Everything went their way against Osseo-Fairchild as they made off with a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Thunder: they've now won three in a row.

While Melrose-Mindoro won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-17, 25-22.

Alma Center Lincoln's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 2-8. As for Melrose-Mindoro, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
