Preview: Merrill Vandals vs. Coleman Comets
Merrill and Coleman are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Merrill Vandals will head out on the road to face off against the Coleman Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Merrill will be strutting in after a victory while Coleman will be coming in after a defeat.
Merrill gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 39-29 win over Ashley.
Meanwhile, Coleman's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to Fulton on the road by a decisive 47-31 margin. Coleman has struggled against Fulton recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Maddy Miller put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season.
Merrill's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-0. As for Coleman, they bumped their record down to 0-3 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Merrill didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Coleman in their previous matchup back in February, but they still walked away with a 30-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Merrill since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
