South Grand Prairie 5-foot-5 freshman guard Bryce Cook played giant-killer in leading the Warriors to a 56-51 victory over DeSoto, ranked No. 2 in the MaxPreps Texas Top 25. The loss was the first for DeSoto (26-2) in District 8-6A play.

Playing on his home floor, Cook ignited the Warriors (20-8) with 26 points, including all 15 of his team's fourth-quarter output. South Grand Prairie avenged a lopsided 52-26 loss at DeSoto last month and rejoins this week's rankings at No. 19.

The Warriors have two seniors that have signed letters of intent: forward Cameron McGriff (Oklahoma State) and 6-10 post Harrison Henderson (USC).



Still unbeaten in the No. 1 position is 30-0 Atascocita (Humble).

Carsen Edwards scored 33 points in an 86-50 midweek strumming of Oak Ridge (Conroe). The Eagles capped a 2-0 week with a 105-63 blowout of Summer Creek (Houston).

Despite 26 points from Marques Bolden, the Eagles absorbed their first District 8-6A loss at the hands of South Grand Prairie, 56-51.

3. (3) Lancaster 26-2
The Tigers built a 20-point lead in the first quarter and coasted to a 74-42 drubbing of Legacy (Mansfield). Jakolby Pemberton led the way with 21 points.

4. (4) Benjamin Davis (Houston) 25-2
Royce Hamm, a 6-7 junior, had 15 points and 13 rebounds in an 82-43 roasting of Northbrook to finish a 2-0 week for the Falcons.

5. (5) Fort Bend Elkins (Missouri City) 27-2
Eddie Everline scored 14 points in a 77-34 rout of Fort Bend Willowridge (Houston) to cap a 2-0 week for the Knights.

6. (6) Brandeis (San Antonio) 27-1
Ellis Jefferson netted 16 points in a 71-56 defeat of Taft (San Antonio) to finish off a Broncos 2-0 week.

7. (7) Houston Math Science & Tech 26-4
Kendric Davis was selected player of the game in a 73-56 bashing of Bellaire (Houston).



8. (8) Cedar Hill 22-3
Jairus Adley led the Longhorns with 16 points in an 85-58 crushing of Grand Prairie. On Tuesday, Cedar Hill scored an 83-77 road win over rival Duncanville.

9. (9) Skyline (Dallas) 26-1
Marcus Garrett scored 29 points in a 56-54 midweek victory over MacArthur (Irving). The Raiders had a much easier time in Friday's 72-34 pummeling of R.L. Turner (Carrollton).

10. (10) Tascosa (Amarillo) 27-0
The Rebels completed a 2-0 week with a 75-50 thumping of rival Amarillo.

11. (11) Steele (Cibolo) 26-2
Gerald Liddell led with 21 points in a 66-61 win over New Braunfels to finish a 2-0 week for the Knights.

Javon Levi led a balanced attack with 15 points in a 61-50 road victory over Copperas Cove.

13. (13) North Crowley (Fort Worth) 25-3
Jordon Myers scored 19 points in a midweek 65-62 subduing of Bowie (Arlington). The Panthers made it a 2-0 week on Friday with a 68-47 leveling of Weatherford.

Kenneth Yarbrough notched 23 points in an 80-61 takedown of Fort Bend Kempner (Sugar Land).

Michael Williams scored 18 points in a 74-44 rout of Alief Hastings (Houston) to complete another 2-0 week for the Tigers.

16. (16) Vista Ridge (Cedar Park) 28-2
Mekhi Burgess scored 15 points in a 69-44 rout of Dripping Springs to finish off a 2-0 week for the Rangers.

17. (17) Prestonwood Christian (Plano) 25-7
Five players scored in double figures, led by 20 points from DJ McGee, in an 86-42 humbling of Nolan Catholic (Fort Worth).

The Eagles stretched their District 15-6A winning streak to 11 by taking down Spring and Klein Oak (Spring).

19. (NR) South Grand Prairie 20-8
The Warriors closed to within a half-game of District 8-6A leader DeSoto by knocking off the Eagles, 56-51.

Devin Gifford led with 25 points in a 77-67 victory over Hebron to cap a 2-0 week.

Jerritt Dixon and Hans Burwitz scored 13 points apiece in a 57-50 victory over Plano West to cap a 2-0 week.

The Lions stretched their 100-point scoring streak to five straight games in wins over Davis (Houston) and Sharpstown (Houston).

Peter Byrd led a balanced attack with 14 points in a 56-54 victory over Fort Bend Marshall (Missouri City) to cap a 2-0 week.

Jalon Gates scored 19 points in an 86-57 victory over Smithson Valley (Spring Branch) to complete a 2-0 week for the Buffaloes.

Jeff Fesperman accounted for 21 points in a 68-57 victory over Reagan (San Antonio) to complete a 2-0 week for the Chargers.
