Football Recap: Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Comes Up Short on the Road Against Riverheads + How To Watch

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a blow against the Riverheads Gladiators, falling 49-0. While losing is never fun, the Ospreys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Gladiators are ranked 75th).

Caleb Phillips threw for 84 yards while completing 71.4% of his passes. Bruce Phillips was his top target, picking up 41 receiving yards. On the ground, Carter Garland rushed for 83 yards.

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Auburn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverheads, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Altavista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
