The Holy Ghost Prep Firebirds will venture away from home to square off against the Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic Friars/Pandas at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Holy Ghost Prep's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Holy Ghost Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on La Salle College with a sharp 16-3 win on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Firebirds with their most commanding win of the season.

Matt Riendeau tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Holy Ghost Prep got a massive performance out of Colin Davis, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs Davis has posted since back in June of 2024. Karl Hussey also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Holy Ghost Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic entered their tilt with Cardinal O'Hara on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Lions by a score of 6-1.
Johnny Ortegae spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.
At the plate, Michael Coleman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Gavin DiRita, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Holy Ghost Prep, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Holy Ghost Prep might still be hurting after the 11-2 defeat they got from Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Firebirds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
