Basketball Recap: Ashton-Franklin Center Comes Up Short

Ashton-Franklin Center was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Eastland Cougars, falling 81-30. Having soared to a lofty 57 points in the game before, the Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.

Ashton-Franklin Center's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Thomas, who posted nine points. Thomas continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played.

Ashton-Franklin Center's defeat dropped their record down to 7-22. As for Eastland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashton-Franklin Center will head out to square off against Milledgeville at 7:00 p.m. on February 18th. As for Eastland, they will venture away from home to take on Morrison at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
