Basketball Recap: Hoopa Valley Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hoopa Valley can now relate to. They took a 62-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Athenian Owls on Tuesday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Hoopa Valley lost, don't look at Lyle Mckinnon. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-18 en route to 23 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Mckinnon has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Charles Sorrel, who had nine points.

Hoopa Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Athenian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season.

Hoopa Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Athenian, they will venture away from home to square off against International at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. International knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Athenian likes a good challenge.
