Softball Recap: Civic Memorial Comes Up Short

Civic Memorial lost against Freeburg back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Eagles fell just short of the Midgets by a score of 3-2.

Megan Griffith was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Griffith was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Griffith wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Hardy, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Civic Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Freeburg, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Civic Memorial will take on Jersey at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Freeburg, they will challenge Non Varsity Opponent at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
