Baseball Game Preview: Westminster Christian Wildcats vs. Whitfield Warriors

The Westminster Christian Wildcats will square off against the Whitfield Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Westminster Christian will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Vianney on Saturday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Golden Griffins with a sharp 14-5 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by eight runs or more this season.

Whitfield came out on top against Principia on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Warriors walked away with an 8-4 win over the Panthers. The game was the first time the Warriors have beaten the Panthers on their field since May 3, 2022.

Whitfield let Parker Walseth and Mark Portis run wild. Walseth went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Portis got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs Walseth has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Kline, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Westminster Christian has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Whitfield, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-15.
