Preview: Tahoma Bears vs. Mt. Rainier Rams
The Tahoma Bears on the road again on Saturday and play against the Mt. Rainier Rams at 7:00 p.m. on January 13th. Tahoma has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 915 points over their last 13 matchups.
Last Thursday, Tahoma strolled past Kentridge with points to spare, taking the game 64-46. Given Tahoma's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Kentridge is ranked 166th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carter Stonerock continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Davis, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Mt. Rainier was able to grind out a solid win over Decatur on Thursday, taking the game 62-50. The win was just what Mt. Rainier needed coming off of a 73-50 loss in their prior game.
It was another big night for Zach Luz, who scored 38 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Rylan Keane was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Tahoma's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. As for Mt. Rainier, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Tahoma hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 69.5 points per game. It's a different story for Mt. Rainier, though, as they've been averaging only 58.4 points per game. The only thing between Tahoma and another offensive beatdown is Mt. Rainier. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Tahoma strolled past Mt. Rainier in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 58-42. Does Tahoma have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Rainier turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
