Softball Game Preview: Elton Indians vs. Crowley Gent

The Elton Indians will face off against the Crowley Gent at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Elton has given up an average of 18.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Elton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 20 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Merryville on Tuesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 15-1. The Indians have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Crowley never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Northwest as they made off with a 17-0 win. The Gent might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by ten runs or more this season.

She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted over her last nine matches.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zailey Smith, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted over her last nine contests. Shailee Trahan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Crowley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Crowley now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Elton, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
