Fort Cherry beats Carlynton for their ninth straight win

Recap: Fort Cherry Rangers vs. Carlynton Cougars

The Fort Cherry Rangers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They claimed a resounding 42-0 win over Carlynton on the road. 42 seems to be a good number for Fort Cherry as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Fort Cherry was led to victory by Ethan Faletto and Matt Sieg. Faletto rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, while Sieg rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Shane Cornali also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Fort Cherry's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB nine times. Leading the way was Louis Ryan and his two sacks.

Fort Cherry's victory was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Chartiers-Houston and 2-7 Carlynton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 41.2% over those games). As for Carlynton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Fort Cherry will be playing in front of their home fans against Burgettstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Burgettstown is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Carlynton, they will head out on the road to face off against Bishop Canevin at 7:00 p.m. on October 28th. Bishop Canevin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Carlynton in Pennsylvania (Bishop Canevin is ranked 137th, while Carlynton is ranked 493rd).
