Softball Recap: Stevens Point Drops Season-High Score on Wausau East

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stevens Point). They put the hurt on the Wausau East Lumberjacks with a sharp 19-3 victory on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.

Stevens Point got a great performance from Emma Riberich as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Audrina Placeway was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, eight RBI, and two runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Kaitlyn Klismith was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

Stevens Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Stevens Point's record now sits at 6-2. As for Wausau East, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Stevens Point will host De Pere at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wausau East, they will head out to take on Rhinelander at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
