Basketball Recap: St. James Takes a Loss

After flying high against Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center] last Tuesday, St. James came back down to earth. The St. James Saints lost 68-43 to the Maple River Eagles on Thursday. The Saints were probably out for revenge after losing 74-48 to them when the teams met back in February of 2016, then they'll just have to keep looking.

St. James dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Maple River, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. James will challenge Blue Earth at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Blue Earth's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Maple River, they will face off against Lisbon at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
