Football Recap: Knox County Piles Up the Points Against Bishop Leblond

Knox County hadn't done well against Bishop LeBlond recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Knox County breezed past Bishop LeBlond to the tune of 44-16. Fans of Knox County have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Cooper Clair was his usual excellent self, rushing for 182 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 100 yards and one TD. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 104 rushing yards dating back to last season.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Knox County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 296 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 200 rushing yards in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Bishop LeBlond had strong showings from Cole Sigrist, who picked up 88 receiving yards and one score, and Cooper Tabor, who threw for 130 yards and one TD. Sigrist also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass.

Knox County's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Bishop LeBlond, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Knox County will challenge Kansas City East Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Bishop LeBlond, they will square off against Archie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Whirlwinds will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
