With a playoff win on the line, Harlingen South rose to the challenge  on Friday. They blew past the Vela Sabercats 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 15 matchups by six  runs or more  so far this season.
 Lexi Sandoval made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs, two  doubles,  and one  RBI. That's the most  doubles  she has posted since back in March.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Jaylin Mata, who  got on base  in all four of her plate appearances with one  home run, two  runs,  and one  stolen base. Another player making a difference was  Evette Garcia, who  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI, one  triple,  and one  stolen base.
The  win (which was Harlingen South's seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-5. Those  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Vela, their loss  ended  a  three-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 12-10.
As of now, neither Harlingen South nor the Sabercats have any future games scheduled.
