Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Desert View

It was a proper cat-fight when Desert View took on Marana on Wednesday. The Desert View Jaguars blew past the Marana Tigers 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Orlando Pinedo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, Miguel Siqueiros and Mark Hollonbeck did most of the damage at the plate: Siqueiros scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Hollonbeck scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Iram Urias was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Desert View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marana only posted an OBP of .308.

The win was the fourth in a row for Desert View, bringing their record for this year to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Marana, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Desert View has already played their next game (against Salpointe Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Marana, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-7 victory against Yuma on the 13th.
