Softball Game Preview: Bishop Kenny Crusaders vs. Beachside Barracudas

The Bishop Kenny Crusaders will square off against the Beachside Barracudas at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Bishop Kenny easily dispatched First Coast on Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Crusaders fell just short of Atlantic Coast by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. The Crusaders' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Sophia Mulkey was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Ava Farnham was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Beachside came up short against Tocoi Creek on Tuesday, falling 11-1. The Barracudas have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mallie Meadows made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Beachside's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Bishop Kenny, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Everything went Bishop Kenny's way against Beachside when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Bishop Kenny made off with a 17-9 win. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Barracudas turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
