The Grace Christian Academy Crusaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 80-60 walloping at the hands of Unity Christian Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Grace Christian Academy has suffered yet this season.
Grace Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sam Marquardt, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noah Bisping, who scored 11 points.
Unity Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenyun Mazique out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Mazique also posted eight assists for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan O'Neil, who scored 18 points along with six assists and two steals.
Grace Christian Academy's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-13. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Unity Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-6.
Grace Christian Academy will head out on the road to take on Illinois Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Unity Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Islamic Foundation at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
