Baseball Recap: Blacksher Comes Up Short

Blacksher was the 9-0 winner over Sweet Water when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Blacksher fell just short of Sweet Water by a score of 5-4 on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Hunter Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brady Blackburn, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Blacksher's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Sweet Water, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Blacksher will be playing at home against Bayshore Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Sweet Water, they will head out to take on Jackson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Aggies at the right time seeing as the Aggies are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
