Volleyball Recap: ALA - Anthem South Takes a Loss

ALA - Anthem South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gilbert Classical Academy Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Tuesday.

Gilbert Classical Academy was led to victory by John Vu and Ethan Cork. Vu had eight aces and four digs, while Cork had three aces and one assist. Those eight aces gave Vu a new career-high. Declan Meyers also deserves some recognition as he served his first aces of the season.

ALA - Anthem South's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Gilbert Classical Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Coincidentally, ALA - Anthem South and Gilbert Classical Academy will both be playing Leading Edge Academy - GEC the next time they take the court. ALA - Anthem South will head out to face Leading Edge Academy - GEC at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while Gilbert Classical Academy will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
