Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Columbia Academy

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Columbia Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Brookhaven Academy 8-7. The win was familiar territory for Columbia Academy, who have now won three matches in a row.

Corban Lawrence was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Baughman, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Lawrence wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Columbia Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Columbia Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Brookhaven Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Columbia Academy will welcome Bowling Green at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brookhaven Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
