Baseball Recap: Fairmont Victorious

Fairmont posted their closest victory since March 19th on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the St. Pauls Bulldogs, sneaking past 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Golden Tornadoes: when they faced off against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, they had to take a 6-4 defeat.

Mynkoda Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nehemiah Chavis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Fairmont is 5-2 when Chavis posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenley Callahan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Fairmont now has a winning record of 9-8. As for St. Pauls, they dropped their record down to 7-8 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Fairmont has already played their next matchup, a 6-2 defeat against West Bladen on the 15th. As for St. Pauls, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-2 loss against Clinton on the 15th.
