Soccer Game Preview: Mountain Ridge vs. Maryvale

The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Maryvale Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 7.4 goals per game this season.

Mountain Ridge's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 9-0 margin over Millennium. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Mountain Lions considering their one-goal performance the contest before.

Their offense was hitting Millennium from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Aryanna Peregrino led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Maryvale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 10-0 to Casteel. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Colts are ranked first).

Mountain Ridge pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four games. As for Maryvale, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8-1.

Mountain Ridge took their victory against Maryvale in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 9-1. In that matchup, Mountain Ridge amassed a halftime lead of 6-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
