Softball Game Preview: Vinton Lions vs. Merryville Panthers

The Vinton Lions will face off against the Merryville Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Vinton came up short against DeRidder on Tuesday, falling 16-10.

Meanwhile, Merryville didn't have quite enough to beat Rosepine on Tuesday and fell 4-3.

Merryville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camille Davis, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Abigail Cornes was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Merryville's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Vinton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Vinton took their win against Merryville in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 14-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vinton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
