Softball Recap: Brennan's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Brennan had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came out on top against the Sotomayor WILDCATS by a score of 7-2. With that win, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Bryannah Campos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery Leatherman, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Olivia Cardenas, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Leatherman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Brennan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. Brennan is a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Brennan's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sotomayor, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Brennan will take on Harlan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brennan will need to watch out since Harlan has now posted at least ten runs in their last six matches. As for Sotomayor, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Sotomayor WILDCATS challenge O'Connor Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
