Softball Recap: Freedom Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

The matchup between Freedom and Marinette on Monday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Irish put the hurt on the Marines with a sharp 14-7 win. Considering the Irish have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Freedom pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Marinette, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Freedom beat the Marines by a score of 7-2 later that day.
