Basketball Recap: Roscommon Comes Up Short

Roscommon played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 67-42 to the Pine River Area Bucks. While losing is never fun, Roscommon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 497th, while Pine River Area is ranked 117th).

When it comes to explaining why Roscommon lost, don't look at Keaton Pratt. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Pratt a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Landon Mann, who posted nine points.

Pine River Area got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mason Gugle out in front who went 6 for 12 on his way to 17 points. Trevor Holmquist was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and five rebounds.

Roscommon has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Pine River Area, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pine River Area beat Roscommon by a score of 76-48 on Wednesday.
