Preview: Faith Christian vs. Faith Baptist
Faith Christian will be playing at home against Faith Baptist at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Faith Christian has struggled recently with 14 losses in a row, while Faith Baptist will arrive with seven straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Faith Christian came up short against Bethany Christian and fell 46-39.
In what's become a running theme this season, Faith Baptist gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Bethany Christian with a sharp 51-28 victory. Given Faith Baptist's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Bethany Christian is ranked 384th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Faith Baptist's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Bailey Burton, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Amy Ahrens, who almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. That's the first time this season that Burton scored 15 or more points. Olivia Adams was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Faith Christian bumped their record down to 0-3 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.1 points per game. As for Faith Baptist, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
Faith Christian might still be hurting after the 48-25 loss they got from Faith Baptist in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Faith Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
