Volleyball Recap: Winnebago Lutheran Academy Comes Up Short

Winnebago Lutheran Academy suffered their biggest defeat since October 24, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Laconia Spartans. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Spartans when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Laconia scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-17, 25-19.

Jenna Petrowitz paced Winnebago Lutheran Academy's offense, picking up eight kills. Petrowitz got some help from Sam Unger and her 13 assists. Finally, Abby Walta and Jill Pinno kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked three attacks.

Josie Basler was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 12 digs and two assists. She has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Winnebago Lutheran Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-19 record this season. As for Laconia, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-6.

Coming up, Winnebago Lutheran Academy will face off against Horicon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laconia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
