No. 1 Allen ends regular season with winning streak at 53; Marquee matchup in opening round of UIL state playoffs is Cedar Hill at Southlake Carroll.

The MaxPreps Texas Top 25, along with the other qualifiers in 12 divisions, begin the process of determining a state champion over the next six weeks.

The road begins this week with bi-district playoffs and concludes with UIL state championship weekend Dec. 17-19 at Houston's NRG Stadium.

Allen, No. 1 in Texas Top 25, begins another defense of the Class 6A Division I crown riding a 53-game winning streak. The Eagles are taking aim at a fourth consecutive title.



No. 3 Katy is the state record holder for most title game appearances with 13. The Tigers have won seven state titles.

One of the most intriguing first-round matchups sees 9-1 Cedar Hill, coming off three state championship game appearances with state titles the last two years, playing at 8-2 Carroll (Southlake) on Friday.

The Dragons have eight state titles, the most recent coming in 2011. Cedar Hill is ranked No. 10 and Carroll is No. 13.

Lionell McConnell had five catches for 183 yards and two touchdowns in a 58-23 victory over Plano East, capping a third straight perfect regular season for the Eagles.

2. (2) Trinity (Euless) 10-0
Coming off an open date, the Trojans for the second consecutive year draw South Grand Prairie as a bi-district opponent.



3. (3) Katy 10-0
Kyle Williams had thee catches for 66 yards and two touchdowns in a 24-0 blanking of Cinco Ranch (Katy). It was the Tigers' fourth consecutive shutout and seventh of the season.

4. (4) Steele (Cibolo) 10-0
Xavier Martin ran for two touchdowns and threw for two in a 49-14 drubbing of Canyon (New Braunfels).

5. (5) Lake Travis (Austin) 10-0
Santiago Villegas rushed for 76 yards and three touchdowns in a 56-7 rout of Akins (Austin).

6. (14) Pearland 10-0
A two-yard touchdown run by Connor Blumrick late in the fourth quarter carried the Oilers to a 27-24 win over rival Manvel.

7. (8) Cedar Park 10-0
Jack Grimm rushed for two touchdowns and had another on a catch in a 48-21 victory over Vista Ridge (Cedar Park).

8. (6) The Woodlands 9-1
A 92-yard return of the second half kickoff by Mason Wuensch turned out to be the decisive touchdown in a 21-18 victory over Kingwood.



9. (9) Marcus (Flower Mound) 9-1
Coming off an open date, the Marauders will face Fossil Ridge (Keller) in a bi-district playoff.

10. (10) Cedar Hill 9-1
Avery Davis ran for two touchdowns and passed for another in a 39-28 triumph over South Grand Prairie.

11. (11) Judson (Converse) 9-1
Julon Williams' 10-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter carried the Rockets to a 27-23 victory over Smithson Valley (Spring Branch).

12. (12) Westlake (Austin) 9-1
Sam Ehlinger threw for 256 yards and four touchdowns in a 66-14 trouncing of Lehman (Kyle).

13. (13) Carroll (Southlake) 8-2
Lil'Jordan Humphrey rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns in a 56-7 thumping of Bell (Hurst).

14. (7) Manvel 8-2
D'Eriq King rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown and threw for a score, but it was not enough in a 27-24 loss to Pearland.



15. (16) Spring 9-1
Eric Spencer Jr. rushed for 214 yards and two touchdowns and threw for another in a 62-17 crunching of Klein Oak (Spring).

16. (17) Klein Collins (Spring) 9-1
Rashawn Day ran for two touchdowns and threw for another in a 49-20 searing of Klein Forest (Houston).

17. (18) Lake Ridge (Mansfield) 10-0
Texas Tech pledge Jett Duffey threw for two scores and Duke Carter ran for two in a 53-7 rout of Seguin (Arlington).

18. (19) Clear Creek (League City) 10-0
Coach Darrell Warden's Wildcats concluded a perfect regular season with a 48-0 blanking of Clear Lake (Houston) as quarterback Chase Hildreth threw for 268 yards and three scores.

19. (20) George Ranch (Richmond) 10-0
Antonio Jackson punched in two short touchdown runs and the Longhorns' defense stopped a two-point conversion run with seven seconds remaining in a 27-26 victory over Calhoun (Port Lavaca).

20. (21) Ryan (Denton) 10-0
Spencer Sanders threw for three touchdowns in a 31-24 rivalry victory over Guyer (Denton).



21. (22) Westfield (Houston) 8-2
Dillon Sterling-Cole threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns to Tyrie Cleveland in a 33-6 stampede over Klein.

22. (23) Reagan (San Antonio) 10-0
Following last week's open date, the Rattlers dive into the playoffs on Friday against Smithson Valley (Spring Branch).

23. (25) Crosby 10-0
Craig Williams rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-12 bashing of King (Houston).

24. (15) Permian (Odessa) 9-1
Four turnovers were the Panthers undoing in a 27-20 loss to San Angelo Central.

25. (24) Cinco Ranch (Katy) 9-1
The Cougars defense limited Katy to 48 rushing yards on 24 attempts, but could only muster 189 yards of offense in a 24-0 loss to the Tigers.
